Throughout my education, I have become empowered by the art of language – and as faux pas as it may sound – with great power, comes great responsibility. The question remains, what do I plan to do with this new empowerment? I plan to eloquently dissect and execute my life in order to better understand the world through the eyes of the now educated – as I have newly been baptized into the art of the English language.
Currently, I am a soon-to-be graduate with a bachelor of arts in English. To my surprise, this degree will open up the same amount of doors as a cat could open – not impossible, however, very improbable. My degree does, nevertheless, open up the door to more education – another way for the educational system to suck the money out of our wallets.
Realizing early enough that my only option was to continue my education, I recently applied to graduate certificate programs at a few local colleges for Public Relations– oh the cleverness of me! I have completed one interview with one of the colleges and, though it did not go as planned, it was not awful. I suppose it was a wake-up call for what to expect for my upcoming interviews.
With my PR certificate I plan on entering the slaughter house of the corporate world – communications. I will hopefully prove myself to be an appropriate candidate to my future interviewer's. And so, today is the day that I will begin to track my journey to become a professional communicator. I will share the hardships, tear-jerker's, and the - hopefully - successful moments as they are thrown at me for the months to come. This is Alisonay, signing out.
